While the announcement came after market hours, shares of the country’s third largest IT services player finished with gains of almost 3 per cent. This came on the back of reports that the proposed buyback will be to the tune of Rs 12,000 crore. On the BSE, the Wipro scrip settled at Rs 281 — a gain of Rs 7.55 or 2.76 per cent over the last close.
