The extant policy of the Government, all non-exempted Central Ministries/Departments (currently 55 in number) are mandated to spend at least 10% of their Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) to Central Sector and Centrally Sponsored Schemes for North Eastern Region (NER). Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) monitors and keeps track of such expenditure.
An allocation of Rs. 94679.53 crore has been made under 10% GBS for the year 2023-24 for NER at Budget Estimate (BE) stage.
