Yubi, the world’s first unified credit platform, in partnership with Hero Vired, has announced the launch of Back2EPIC, a returnship program for women in tech who are looking to restart their careers post a break. As part of the first cohort, 14 participants have graduated.
Back2EPIC is a fully-sponsored 12 week reskilling bootcamp-cum-internship for women on a career break. It is broken into 2 modules which focuses on technical reskilling and soft skills training which is designed to enable a smooth transition into the workplace for women. The first six weeks consist of a reskilling bootcamp, followed by a 6-week paid internship which will serve as a hands-on training experience. Post the completion of the internship, participants are assessed for full time roles at Yubi.
Tanya Mehan, Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Employer Branding at Yubi, said, “Many women often have to take career break due to various reasons, be it taking up caregiving responsibilities, handling homes, managing any personal crisis, or even if it’s to take a breather. However, when they return, women have to suffer from various biases and systemic inequities which hinder them from re-launching their careers. Yubi believes that cognitive diversity and inclusion are the fundamental blocks of growth and innovation. Hence, instead of being part of the problem, we designed Back2EPIC to be part of the solution and with the first cohort graduating, we are certain we will see immense value in our efforts.”
Commenting on partnering with Yubi for this program, Vasu Sharma, Director - Growth and Partnerships at Hero Vired said, “When Yubi approached us with the idea, we were thrilled at the possibilities of what this program can do for women who are looking to restart their careers in tech. Reskilling is a crucial building block in this day and age, given how fungible skills have become; this is applicable more so in the case of the tech talent pool that is available today. This belief is at the bedrock of our services and compliments Yubi’s vision of driving cognitive diversity in its workforce.”
The diversity and inclusion initiatives at Yubi has made it the most sought after company for young techies. Some of these unique policies include period leave for women and non-binary employees, paternity leave of 10 weeks, extensive maternity leave where women employees can choose to extend their maternity leave for another 26 weeks at 25% of their fixed compensation, and monthly childcare allowance of INR. 15,000 for every parent in the system, a no-questions asked relocation option, owing to life events such as marriage, caregiving responsibilities etc. to ensure continuity of employment for women, accessible and inclusive infrastructure support including gender neutral washrooms, mothers feeding rooms, on-site kids' play room, ramps etc.
