Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions has been selected by Kesko, a leading Finnish retail group, as its strategic IT partner to spearhead the transformation of its core technology landscape across the Nordics and Baltics. This partnership is set to play a pivotal role in Kesko’s journey to modernize operations, enhance business agility, and support its long-term growth and expansion ambitions in grocery, car, building and technical trades across multiple geographies and sectors.

The new multi-year partnership is designed to help Kesko to accelerate development of next generation of digital services, increase operational efficiency, go to market faster, and stay competitive by modernizing its IT landscape. This partnership will also help Kesko leverage AI and intelligent automation, improve quality, and save costs across Kesko’s operations in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. As part of the collaboration, TCS will provide comprehensive, AI-enabled application managed services that will leverage machine learning and AI capabilities to understand the health of the application and take proactive measures to resolve incidents within Kesko’s SAP and non-SAP landscapes.

Arto Hiltunen, Chief Information Officer, Kesko said, “As the biggest trading sector operator in Finland and one of the biggest in Northern Europe, we are always working to stay competitive and bring our large and diverse customer bases more value. That is why we are partnering with TCS to continuously improve our quality, efficiency and the multichannel customer experience, while staying innovative and resilient amidst uncertainties in the operating environment.”

The engagement covers hosting and modernization of SAP environments, and end-to-end support for digital applications. These services will be delivered through a unified operations model—powered by TCS ignio™ AIOps and the TCS RiO™ (Rigor in Operations) framework—to enable full-stack observability, and deliver predictive, proactive incident management at scale. TCS’ ignio AIOps is built on an agentic SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) architecture, and it autonomously resolves IT issues across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.

Subhadipta Samantray, Country Head, TCS Finland, said, “We are excited to partner with Kesko to accelerate their digital transformation with our AI-driven solutions and deep industry expertise. This collaboration sets a benchmark for the retail sector, demonstrating how advanced technology and innovation can empower businesses to adapt, enhance customer experiences, and lead in an ever-evolving market.”

TCS partners with the top 10 global retailers and many others around the world to build profitable and sustainable businesses and offer immersive, unified, and hyper-personalized omnichannel experiences for their customers. TCS’ deep industry expertise, backed by decades of experience and relevant partnerships in retail, spans across store operations, merchandising, supply chain, marketing, pricing strategies, and business model reinvention.

Abhijit Niyogi, Head of Retail – UK, EMEA, and India, TCS, said, “The retail industry is undergoing a transformative journey driven by technological advancements and evolving customer expectations. In this scenario, seamless IT services and agile operations are indispensable for Kesko to strive to grow in a dynamic and competitive market. This engagement is part of TCS’ broader strategy to empower perpetually adaptive enterprises, and we aim to bring not only executional excellence but a long-term vision for sustainable, customer-driven growth.”
