Jet2 Travel Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (J2TT), has successfully launched its global software development & innovation centre for Jet2.com and Jet2 Holidays. The centre is located in Pune, India and operates in a virtual captive centre (VCC)  model . Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are the UK’s third-largest airline and second-largest tour operator, respectively.

Steve Heapy, Chief Executive Officer at Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays had inaugurated the incubation office for J2TT in May 2019. The inauguration was also graced by other dignitaries from Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays including Richard Chambers (HR Director), Gary Isaacs (Chief Information Officer) and Kevin Judge (Head of IT Development). Keeping true to its long-term vision for the India centre, J2TT will be shifting from its temporary incubation center to a 16,000 sq. ft. state of the art  software development & innovation centre at the upmarket Fountainhead building, above Phoenix Market City, Pune. The office is designed to create an ecosystem that drives technical innovation and creativity which is core to the success of J2TT. As Jet2 business continues to grow, IT Systems and Web Development teams across Leeds, Sheffield and Pune play a key role in supporting its expansion and ambitions

Speaking at the launch of the incubation centre, Mr. Kevin Judge, IT Development Head, Jet2 Travel Technologies said, “The IT talent pool in India is astounding . We will put together a strong technology team here to deliver the very best user experience to our all-important customers whether that be via mobile app, mobile site or desktop . The Indian team would also have a great opportunity to work alongside our UK colleagues to get some unique international exposure. We are looking at hiring around 300 technical staff  in our Pune VCC in the coming years.”

VCCs are a fast emerging trend in India with international brands setting them up to attract top talent and maximise value delivery. Adding on to this Mr. Saurabh Limaye, Managing Director at J2TT India and CEO of Dataction Analytics said, “VCC enables companies to reduce risks and gain access to top talent while reducing costs. This working model is gaining popularity in India because of the depth and breadth of technical expertise available in the country. The Indian government is also pushing for more VCCs to be setup as that helps in increasing employment opportunities. We have a long-standing professional relationship with Jet2 and this VCC setup in Pune will only help propel the engagement forward as far as technology and innovation is concerned.”

The VCC would assist Jet2 in its strategy to deliver innovative and industry-leading products with scale, experience, competitiveness and a customer-focused approach. J2TT leadership team will work towards ensuring that Jet2’s global vision meets local execution to deliver success. Elaborating on this point Mr. Gary Isaacs, Chief Information Officer, Jet2 Travel Technologies said, “I believe we can put together a strong team here in India, which will compliment our growing tech teams in Leeds and Sheffield. It would help us in speeding up the delivery of our IT Roadmap, which will further enrich the overall experience for our customers. This will further help in expediting our goal of transforming the leisure travel industry.”
