iPhone 17: Top 10 Highlights That Matter

Apple’s 2025 iPhone 17 brings a bigger ProMotion display, a new 18MP Center Stage selfie camera, all-48MP rear cameras, A19 power, faster charging, and iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence—now coming to India with pre-orders on September 12 and availability from September 19.

1) Bigger, brighter 6.3-inch ProMotion display

The iPhone 17 moves to a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR with ProMotion up to 120 Hz, Always-On (down to 1 Hz), 3,000-nit peak outdoor brightness, and thinner borders for a more immersive view. Apple

2) Tougher glass with Ceramic Shield 2

A new Ceramic Shield 2 front cover adds an Apple-designed coating that delivers ~3× better scratch resistance and reduced glare—tougher than any smartphone glass or glass-ceramic.

3) All-new 18MP Center Stage front camera

A first for iPhone: a square-sensor 18MP front camera that can auto-expand/rotate for group selfies, keep you framed on FaceTime/third-party calls, and record ultra-stabilized 4K HDR—plus Dual Capture to shoot with front and rear cameras simultaneously. 

4) All 48MP rear cameras on the standard model

iPhone 17 gets the 48MP Fusion Main camera with optical-quality 2× Telephoto and a new 48MP Fusion Ultra-Wide (4× the resolution vs iPhone 16 Ultra-Wide). It defaults to richly detailed 24MP photos and supports next-gen Photographic Styles. 

5) A19 chip: faster, cooler, smarter

Built on third-gen 3-nm tech, A19 brings a faster CPU/GPU and Neural Accelerators to power Apple Intelligence features, camera processing, and high-frame-rate gaming—while staying efficient for all-day use.

6) Longer battery life + quicker top-ups

Apple rates iPhone 17 for up to 30 hours of video playback. With a high-watt USB-C adapter (e.g., Apple’s new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter), it can reach ~50% in about 20 minutes.

7) N1 wireless: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread

A new N1 wireless chip enables Wi-Fi 7,Bluetooth 6, and Thread, improving responsiveness and reliability for AirDrop and Personal Hotspot, and readying your phone for the latest connected accessories. 

8) eSIM flexibility—including eSIM-only variants in select regions

Apple expands eSIM support (500+ carriers worldwide). Some iPhone 17 variants are eSIM-only in select markets; India models continue to support eSIM with carriers that offer it.

9) iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence

Out of the box, iPhone 17 ships with iOS 26: a refreshed Liquid Glass design, Live Translation across Phone/Messages/FaceTime, upgraded visual intelligence that acts on what’s on screen, and more—much of it designed to run on-device for privacy. 

10) Double the base storage + fresh colors

The lineup now starts at 256 GB (with a 512 GB option) and comes in five finishes—black, lavender, mist blue, sage, and white—so you’ve got more room for 48MP photos and 4K video, plus a look that fits your style.
