During the Independence Day speech, PM Modi Announced Drone Training for Women. In another initiative aimed at creating a technologically skilled nation, the PM said members of 15,000 women self-help groups will be trained to operate and repair drones for agritech purposes. This is part of the government's vision to create two crore 'lakhpati didis' in villages.
Prem Kumar Vislawath, CEO and Founder of Marut Drones commented, “Rural women are torchbearers for social, economic and technological transformation for the ‘New India’. In India, agriculture employs about 80 percent of rural women. The Prime Minister’s announcement regarding training members of 15,000 women self-help groups to operate and repair drones for agritech purposes is a visionary step. This will bring about a wave of change in the drone industry. Empowering and mainstreaming rural women workforce in agriculture can bring paradigm shift towards economic growth. A large section of women will be empowered through the initiative, there are very few women drone pilots and we would like to be a part of their journey to be self-reliant. This is a huge opportunity for innovators like us and we are ready to align with the PM’s vision.”
