Education is getting transformed extensively. Thatnks to cutting edge technologies such as 3D and AI educationists and students are exploring all new and more effective ways of learning. 3D simulations can now make learning easier and more impactful for school students.
An organization called, Saras-3D has come up with India’s first stereoscopic 3D learning solution called the Genius 3D Learning. It is designed to cater to students of classes X, XI and XII from CBSE and ICSE boards. The learning is in sync with the NCERT syllabus.
Saras-3D Inc. (Saras-3D), the pioneer in stereoscopic 3D learning solutions for science and mathematics has now introduced this international learning and other best practices to India. It is a US-based ed-tech firm founded by Indian technocrats and operates in India through its wholly owned subsidiary 3D EdTech Pvt Ltd.
In an exclusive interaction between SMEStreet and Kashyap Mankad, Ex Group Director ISRO, Founding Member and Consulting Technical Director, 3D EdTech, a lot has been discussed which can help in understanding the next level trend of Indian Education Technologies.
SMEStreet: Take us through the vision and idea behind the company.
Kashyap Mankad: SARAS-3D was founded by a team of USA-based technocrats. The team led by Mr. Bipin Dama (Founder, CEO, and currently CTO) has had two very successful technology start-up ventures earlier in the USA. The idea of entering the Ed Tech field occurred basically from the inner urge to give back to society in general and to India in particular. India is on an ascending path now. The country will need thinkers and problem solvers to continue to progress at the same or increased rate. Hence, a new method of teaching and learning was required to be developed. SARAS-3D has developed that technology. The company is professionally managed by its CEO Mr. Vijay Albuquerque. Please refer to our website www.saras-3d.com to know about our team.
SMEStreet: How does 3D technology help as game changers?
Kashyap Mankad: SARAS-3D has designed its flagship Genius 3D system with a deep conviction that complex concepts and structures are best understood by the students if they are presented in an interactive stereoscopic 3D format. This is very essential to create future thinkers and problem solvers for India. The real world is in 3D, but the teaching aids have remained in 2D since time immemorial. Books have been replaced by computer screens or the ‘Smart Boards,’ all essentially in 2D. But Genius 3D is the only structured 3D system available in the national and international market, which is 100 % aligned with the NCERT curriculum, and the content is in stereoscopic 3D. Its modular structure allows quick reconfiguration to most STEM curriculums across the world.
SMEStreet: How does 3D stereoscopic learning help in STEM education?
Kashyap Mankad: 3D stereoscopic technology has the power to transform students into future problem solvers and innovators because it creates the ideal conceptual learning environment. It deepens understanding while developing creativity, leadership, creative self-efficacy, energy, risk propensity, and ambiguous problem-solving. It is all activated through hands-on experience and real-world application in an environment where mistakes are easily fixed, and curiosity is the guide.
Hands-on learning with three-dimensional objects represents a constructivist approach in which the students develop their knowledge and understanding through interaction. Knowledge is transferred not only through visualizations but also through a hands-on experience that allows the student to grab and hold the model as they alter, rotate, and explore. This enables participants to make decisions such as communication, analysis, evaluations, and revisions that cannot be made as conveniently in any of the individual modes alone.
SMEStreet: How does Saras benefit the institutions?
Kashyap Mankad: We have recently tied up with CHARUSAT University, one of India’s top STEM universities, under our school sponsorship program. By developing inquisitive young minds, the path toward future innovations can be full of students who are fully prepared for solving the challenges the future may bring. Saras-3D and CHARUSAT joined forces to achieve this common goal. The university is looking to 9-12 grade students to nurture India’s future innovators. Deserving schools are taking advantage of this opportunity and embracing technology that facilitates a culture of STEM. The School sponsorship program is a key part of building a nationwide STEM education ecosystem. Under this tie-up, we are supporting schools to build a culture of STEM education while promoting learning by doing methodology.
We are also open to future partnerships/tie-ups with other like-minded institutes. We want deserving schools to come forward and take advantage of this opportunity and embrace technology that facilitates a culture of STEM. With Genius 3D Learning, both students and teachers benefit from high-quality, 3D interactive education.
