Wondering how to help kids prevent eye strain and fatigue while keeping eye health in the digital world? The right monitor is a great start. During self-quarantine, students might be glued to the television screen, mobile phones or computer screen without giving their eyes a break.
Technology has become an integrated element in modern life. We are living in an age of rapid technological changes. There is no industry or part of our life that has not been touched and changed by technology and the field of education is no different. Technology has played a huge role in bringing a revolution in the education sector. However, with this lockdown we know that children are spending long hours each day looking at screens. Considering the increase of headaches, eye strain and blurred vision, it should be important to invest in reliable edtech hardware.
To avoid headaches, eye strain, and eye fatigue, it is necessary to upgradeby a monitor that offers technology that makes a difference and helps to prevent Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). BenQ monitors are designed with exclusive eye-care™ technology to help eliminate the stress that traditional monitors put on your eyes. Low Blue Light technology, Flicker-Free, Brightness Intelligence, and Brightness Intelligence Plus are all features designed to help provide you with a better user experience both at work and at home.

Flicker-Free Eye Protection
We tend to escape from blinking light sources, but the fact is that conventional LCD screens flicker at the rate of 250 times per second, which is invisible to naked eyes. If you look at a monitor for 8 hours, your eyes perceive about 5.8 million flickers. Long exposure to this flickering generated by the screen can seriously impact your eye health. Eye fatigue is especially more common among students and workers who rely on computers in their everyday life. This affects their learning and working abilities even more.
BenQ’s monitors are equipped with flicker-free technology, certified by international TÜV Rheinland, to eliminate the main cause of monitor flicker. This reduces the pressure on the eyes as well as eye fatigue from looking at a screen for a long time. Users are offered a chance to use a monitor without compromising on the health of your eyes or display quality.
2. Low Blue Light Technology
We discover the world through of the existence of light, which is divided into visible light (420nm~780nm) and invisible light (infrared light >780nm or ultraviolet light <420 nm).
Visible light enters the retina and causes damage to eyes. As we now live in a multi-screen world, blue light, the most powerful visible light, is especially considered hazardous to eyes. When we use a monitor to watch videos, do homework, or play video games for hours, strong blue screen light enters our eyes, which could impact the macula of the retina and eventually lead to eye-related diseases. Blue light can suppress the production of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin, resulting in sleep disorders.
BenQ has designed two types of technologies to protect the eye health of both children, whose eyes are under development, and adults. Low Blue Light Technology removes blue light (420~480nm) and Low Blue Light Plus Technology filters harmful radiation (420~455nm) to reduce damage while maintaining picture quality without a color shift into shades of yellow.
3. Brightness Intelligence Plus Technology (B.I.+ Tech.)
When we use monitors for long hours, it is often neglected that ambient light is an important factor influencing our viewing experiences. Strong differences in ambient light and the light from displays can cause eye strain. In a bright environment, eyes need to work harder to avoid the glare caused by reflection. In a dimly lit room, eyes need more energy to focus on a very bright display. As time passes, we might have eye strain or severe problems like headaches and blurred vision.
BenQ’s exclusive Brightness Intelligence Technology (B.I. Tech.) and Brightness Intelligence Plus Technology (B.I.+ Tech.) can automatically adjust the display brightness based on our surroundings. The ambient light sensor in B.I.+ Technology can sense the brightness of our surroundings throughout the day for varying color temperatures. Incorporating proprietary real-time algorithms, B.I.+ automatically adjusts display brightness and color temperature to deliver the most comfortable viewing experience, whether under relaxing warm lighting at home, productive cool white lighting in the office, or sunlight shining through the window.
4. Height Adjustment Stand (HAS)
Rising up at least 110mm from the base, BenQ’s Height Adjustment Stand allows users to find the best viewing angles for comfortable work or screen sharing with an extensive range of monitor adjustments – height, tilt, pivot, and swivel. The height adjustment stand is also a perfect solution for middle school students who are getting taller every day; it allows students to quickly adjust the height of the monitor for their best viewing comfort.
5. Color Weakness Mode
BenQ eye-care technology has developed the Color Weakness Mode customized for the color weak to offer them with an easier view by enhancing color tones, and tuning the color filters based on face-to-face interviews with the users. The most common color weaknesses are the red color deficiency (or protanomaly) and the green color deficiency (deuteranomaly). BenQ has offered the red filter and the green filter for the red and green color deficiency. With the BenQ Color Weakness Mode, people with color weakness can decipher the pie charts, statistics and pictures in an effortless way and thus enjoy a view with distinguishable shades of color and an improved colored view.
