Canon is an established name in imaging & printing domain and document management. The company has recently introduced new range of MFDs (Multi Functional Device) ImageRUNNER ADVANCE (iR-ADV) C3300 series, which is set to add value to the Indian SMEs as an cost efficient and high quality printing solution for their needs. In an exclusive interaction with Faiz Askari of SMEStreet, K Bhaskhar, VP - Business Imaging Solutions (BIS) Division, Canon India highlighted market trends and key drivers for Canon India.

SMESTreet: Indian market is evolving rapidly in the document management space. As a major player in this domain, according to you what are key trends?

K Bhaskhar: In today’s context, customers are wanting to make their printing experience easy and accessible. From the printing usage perspective and from the end users’ perspective, a significant thrust is been given towards colour and print quality. Document security, printing management convenience are some of the priorities from the infrastructure management perspective.

According to you what are your observations regarding printing and document management trend among Indian SMEs (Small & Medium Enterprises)?

SMEs in India are becoming very progressive and are one of the most important contributors to the economic growth story of the country as well.

For SMEs, imaging and printing is very sensitive area because a lot of emphasis is been given on the presentation. We are experiencing enormous amount of interest for better quality, better management and better printing convenience from this segment. Aspects like document security, print tracking etc are becoming popular among SMEs.

Mobility is also an important trend what are your views in this direction?

Yes, Canon understands the market requirements, recently we have introduced a new MFD range for the Indian market. With the introduction of this new printer range, printing jobs can also be executed on the go. Mobile printing is available on these newly launched MFD series. With several firsts to its credit, the products are also synchronised with an onscreen Walkthrough Video, providing step-by-step instructions to guide users through consumables replacement.

How is Canon placed in the market landscape of India?

In India, we currently have a market share of 26.8% in A3 colour segment and with the latest addition to the colour MFD series, we are expecting to gain an additional market share of 3% in this category. This new range of colour MFD’s are well equipped to meet the expectations of the ever evolving SME sector. We are also envisaging this colour series to play a key role in meeting the demands of the short run colour prints requirement in the commercial segment.

What is the key driver for Canon’s market growth?

Innovation has always been a driving force at Canon. We at Canon, always try to understand the customer’s preferences and demands. Based on this understanding, we design our products through innovation. The new series of colour MFDs also reflect our commitment towards enhancing convenience, best in class technology and best quality for our customers in India.
