As the year comes to a close, Amazon Business today announced the best of 2020, revealing how MSME buyers leveraged Amazon Business throughout the year to cater to their distinct procurement and business needs.

MSME buyers enjoyed a year of more savings, top deals, widest selection of GST enabled commercial products with Amazon Business as a trusted partner for all their business requirements, especially with the disruption caused by the COVID -19 pandemic in carrying out business operations.

Overwhelming response from customers

  • Over 90% increase in customer base since 2019
  • Over 70% increase in buying customers Vs. 2019
  • Over 35% increase in monthly active users since 2019
  • Over 65% increase in total orders Vs 2019
  • Over 85% increase in sales Vs 2019
  • 95% increase in bulk orders Y-o-Y
  • 100% increase in bulk sales YoY
  • Over 25% of orders came from Tier2, 3 markets, which saw a 70% spike in sales compared to 2019. Over 30% of the customer base now belongs to Tier 2,3 markets

Sellers were the backbone of our success

  • Over 25% increase in total sellers on the Amazon Business marketplace Vs 2019
  • Over 20% more sellers received an order Vs 2019
  • Over 25% more sellers made it to the Crorepati club Vs 2019 

Specially curated COVID-19 store to help our healthcare customers & frontline workers

  • The COVID store received over 15% contribution from bulk orders
  • We also saw an 90% increase in healthcare customers and 60% increase in healthcare orders

To cater to the pandemic induced Work From Home situation, we launched stores to meet the changing purchase demand from MSMEs

  • We launched the Work from Home store which received orders from across the country
  • We also saw heightened interest in the Corporate Gifting store with 65% YoY increase in orders 

Better Deals and more savings for MSMEs throughout the year

  • Helped MSMEs get back on their feet with ‘MSME Accelerate’ which offered attractive cashbacks and business exclusive deals
  • MSME Accelerate saw over 30% increase in buying customers and 35% increase in orders compared to BAU
  • Business Value Days continued to help businesses manage their monthly purchases. Over 16 Business Value Days hosted, with over 5,000 offers curated across each sale; generating savings of over INR 2.73Cr for businesses
  • MSMEs showed their biggest participation ever during the Great Indian Festival with over 80% increase in total sales Vs 2019

 

One stop solution for MSMEs

  • Launched Business PAN to extend the access of Amazon Business to over 80 lakh businesses without GST registration.
  • Launched Shared Pay to facilitate purchase process decentralization that helps improve overall process efficiency, a feature that can be leverage by over 35% of the current customer base
  • Launched e-invoicing to comply with the new compliance norms released by the government

 

Continue to strengthen brand partnerships

  • Launch of commercial exclusive of Lenovo Thinkbook+ with Amazon Business. 5.6X YoY - Increase in commercial selection sales
  • Launch of affordable range of commercial laptops starting at INR.15,000 from Microsoft. 2.1X increase in commercial selection sales
