1M1B (One Million for One Billion), a United Nations–accredited organization, successfully hosted Green Skills @ 2047 at UN House, New Delhi, . The high-energy event celebrated India’s growing green skills movement and showcased the pivotal role of youth, changemakers, educators, and industry champions in shaping a sustainable future- ready India.
Aligned with India’s ambitious journey of achieving net-zero by 2070, the event emphasized preparing a workforce equipped with the right green and AI skills. From tier-2 and tier-3 towns to major cities, young changemakers presented scalable solutions in renewable energy, circular economy, sustainable manufacturing, and AI-powered climate action.
Key highlights included:
- 1M1B young changemakers presented innovative AI-driven projects to accelerate fulfilment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Green Jobs and successful candidates from the 1M1B Green Skills Academy in Andhra Pradesh took center stage, demonstrating the opportunities created and the pathways to meaningful employment in the green economy. Their success highlights the kind of skill India urgently needs to build a future-ready green workforce.
- 1M1B Green Interns showcased innovative technologies which included a chatbot made by a girl from the North-East of India to make climate education more accessible,
- Generation Green Campaign Showcase by OPPO India in partnership with AICTE and 1M1B, and presented by Rakesh Bhardwaj and Anuka Kumar, which demonstrated large-scale, youth-led climate action.
- Felicitation of Teachers as 1M1B Sustainability Impact Mentors, recognising their role in guiding students towards green careers.
The event at UN House, New Delhi held on Tuesday, Aug 26, brought together young changemakers, bold educators, policymakers, and visionary industry leaders, marking a significant step towards India’s greener, cleaner, and more equitable future. The event witnessed the presence of distinguished leaders and partners, including Vikas Marmat, IAS (Project Director, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh), Darrin Farrant (Director, United Nations Information Centre for India & Bhutan), and Manav Subodh (Founder & Chief Mentor, 1M1B), along with senior representatives from OPPO India.

1M1B Green Skills Academy announced at UN Headquarters in December 2023 is building India’s largest green workforce and nurturing climate talent. This year, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated India’s first 1M1B Green Skills Academy Career Readiness Centre in Kuppam. The 1M1B Green Internship Program, launched in 2024 in partnership with AICTE and supported by Salesforce, is also underway to build AI-driven sustainability skills. Beyond Andhra Pradesh, 1M1B is working closely with the state governments of Telangana and Meghalaya, where it has set up Green Skills Academies to strengthen local green talent ecosystems. Through these initiatives, 1M1B is not only driving large-scale skilling but also creating pathways for meaningful green jobs for India’s youth.
