Varanium Cloud Ltd, a digital technology company, aims to bridge the great urban and rural digital divide by generating employment opportunities for local talent, with its second office & business process outsourcing (BPO) centre in Sawantwadi, Maharashtra. The new BPO will create 200 world-class IT jobs for the local youth workforce in Sindhudurg district.
Currently pegged at $37.6 billion, India's BPO industry is projected to reach $55.5 billion by 2025. This reflects the government's vision to establish India as a leading player in the global BPO and voice-related industry. The sector is witnessing a significant shift toward Tier II and Tier III cities, thanks to the COVID-19 aftermath. The pandemic has increased the potential of remote work, leading to a boom in outsourcing services to smaller cities.
Varanium leverages its innovative phy-gital infrastructure, utilising technologies such as Hydra, to establish high-compute, cost-effective BPO operations in non-urban areas. The BPO will focus on activities such as data accounting, background verification and debt recovery amongst others.
Harshawardhan Sabale, MD, Varanium Cloud Ltd said, “As a company, Varanium Cloud wants to break the trend of individuals from small towns migrating to cities in pursuit of employment. Our new BPO centre strives to provide job opportunities for the youth in the Konkan region. We want to invest in local talent and infrastructure and contribute to the growth and prosperity in Sindhudurg. Going forward, we want to penetrate our operations further to non-metro areas creating sustainable employment opportunities for local talent."
Varanium Cloud also plans to expand its presence in Konkan, establishing a web of edge data centres and ed-tech centres to enhance access and skill building capacities for the youth.
