Result-oriented agriculture in Uttar Pradesh got the much-needed boost as Uttar Pradesh State Agriculture Council (UPSAC) of the Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) in its first board meeting passed a series of regulations that are designed at converting scale into value, production into prosperity, and growth into sustainability.
The first Board Meeting, following the reconstitution of the Council in September 2025, was held at the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) in Lucknow. Key deliberations during the meeting covered seed quality systems, water-use efficiency, soil health, access to concessional finance, post-harvest management, and value addition. Tushar Sharma, Director, ICFA, highlighted UPSAC’s renewed mandate as a solution-driven platform focused on translating policy dialogue into measurable on-ground impact for farmers.
Setting the tone, Shri. Ghanshyam Khandelwal, Chairman, UPSAC & BL Agro Industries, emphasised that Uttar Pradesh, the largest contributor to India’s agriculture, will focus on unlocking immense opportunities and drive growth through sustainability. He also highlighted UPSAC’s role as a policy think tank, a convergence platform for government-industry-academia, and a catalyst for investment, innovation, and exports.
Presenting the recommendations, Dr. Sanjay Singh, Co-Chairman, UPSAC and Director General, UPCAR, stressed the need for area-specific, evidence-based interventions and the replication of proven models to improve farmer success rates and income resilience. The role of research institutions, including CSIR-NBRI, was acknowledged for their contribution to innovation, seed technology, and knowledge dissemination.
Highlighting implementation priorities, Ms. Ayati Singh, Senior Manager, ICFA, noted that technology-led interventions and capacity building are central to scaling farmer outcomes in the state and hailed the rise of technology-led interventions in Indian agriculture like Global Agrotech that has enabled innovation, investments, and policy engagement.
The Curtain Raiser of Global Agroworld, scheduled for 26-28 February 2026, also outlined the vision of the upcoming global platform aimed at advancing agri-technology adoption, enterprise development, and investment collaboration.
During the two-day board meeting, a delegation of ICFA-UPSAC met Shri Brajesh Pathak, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and invited him along with senior officials like Mr. Shashank Singh, IAS, Mr. Vijay Kiran Anand, IAS, both from Invest UP, Mr. Indra Vikram Singh, Director, Mandi Parishad, and Mr. T.K. Shibhu, to support Global Agroworld. The delegation also met Mr. Surya Pratap Shahi, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Government of Uttar Pradesh, today.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Rajiv Arora, Vice President, BL Agro Industries & Leads Connect, emphasized the need to strengthen market linkages, post-harvest infrastructure, and value addition to ensure sustainable income growth for farmers.
