Uber has announced its foray into B2B logistics through Uber Direct, powered by the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) network. The company also announced the launch of metro ticketing on the Uber app in the city, also through ONDC.
These launches strengthen Uber’s commitment to expanding its multi-service offerings across India by building on the country’s digital public infrastructure to provide simple and connected mobility and commerce solutions for millions of users.
As Uber expands its logistics portfolio to the ONDC network, the company has also clarified how its new B2B offering differs from the existing consumer-facing delivery option. Unlike Uber Courier, which is booked directly by customers in the Uber app, Uber Direct operates behind the scenes as a logistics engine for businesses. Orders are placed by users on a seller's app or website, and the delivery is fulfilled by Uber Direct without the consumer interacting with Uber until the delivery partner arrives. This makes Uber Direct, powered by ONDC, a standardized, plug-and-play solution for enterprises that need reliable, flexible, and scalable delivery support.
The product has gone live in Bangalore today on open digital rails of the ONDC network, with drivers fulfilling grocery deliveries for brands such as Zepto and KPN Farm Fresh. Uber Direct will be expanded to food delivery within a couple of weeks, fulfilling deliveries for global brands such as KFC, Burger King, Taco Bell, and popular Indian names such as Rebel Foods.
Metro ticketing on Uber, also powered by ONDC, has already seen strong growth in Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, with more riders choosing the convenience of discovering, planning, and paying for public transport within a single app. Bangalore marks an important next step in this journey as Uber continues to build transit as a meaningful part of its product ecosystem.
Speaking at the launch, Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, said, “Bangalore is a playground for innovation, so it is a natural place for us to deepen our integration with ONDC and solve for mobility and logistical needs for people and businesses. The launch of Metro ticketing and Uber Direct in Bangalore helps us bring alive our vision to help people ‘Go anywhere, Get anything’ and we are excited to build that at scale with ONDC. This is yet another important integration and we look forward to building more.”
Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO, ONDC, said, “Uber’s continued expansion on the ONDC Network, first with Metro ticketing in multiple cities and now with the official launch of Uber Direct, demonstrates the true potential of interoperable digital commerce. Uber Direct will provide a standardized, plug-and-play logistics layer for businesses, fostering efficiency and innovation in the B2B space across the network. We are excited to support Uber in bringing this valuable service to life, starting with Bangalore.”
Dr. J Ravishankar, MD, BMRCL, said, “We welcome Uber’s initiative to integrate Namma Metro ticketing into its platform through ONDC network, making travel more seamless for commuters. This is aligned with BMRCL’s multi-operator approach to ticketing, which enables multiple digital platforms to integrate with our system. Uber’s entry also strengthens first and last mile connectivity and expands commuter choice. BMRCL will continue to facilitate such partnerships to make public transport more convenient and technology driven.”
Uber is focused on solving mobility and logistics challenges for Indians, showcasing how technology can simplify everyday movement and commerce. Transit ticketing and Uber Direct, powered by ONDC network, show how the company is diversifying its solutions to meet evolving needs. More metro integrations and Uber Direct city launches are planned for 2026 as Uber deepens its commitment to India.
Starting today, Uber users in Bangalore can purchase QR-based metro tickets and access real-time information for the Bangalore Metro (BMRCL) within the Uber app, using UPI as the exclusive payment method. Additionally, Uber Direct is now live, offering businesses on-demand and scheduled delivery solutions through Uber’s large and reliable driver network for efficient fulfillment across the city.
