Salty, a fashion accessory brand, has partnered with Bark Out Loud by Vivaldis, a leading animal healthcare company, to launch ‘Charms for Change’, a city-based CSR initiative focused on improving visibility, safety, and everyday care for stray dogs in Delhi. The initiative combines thoughtful design interventions with on-ground nourishment support to encourage more compassionate public interaction.
As conversations around stray dogs grow increasingly polarised, the lack of visible identification often leads to fear and hostile behaviour. Charms for Change addresses this gap by using subtle, non-intrusive design elements that encourage recognition, reassurance, and calmer engagement in shared urban spaces.
Each collar features purpose-driven charms, including a vaccinated tag to indicate medical care, a glow-in-the-dark charm to enhance night-time visibility, and themed elements such as ‘Girl Power’ and ‘I Love Cats’ that add personality and soften perception. Additional design details like sunflowers and bows bring warmth without compromising functionality.
Alongside the collar distribution, nutritious dog food by Bark Out Loud was distributed to over 300 stray dogs as part of the CSR activation, reinforcing the initiative’s focus on both visibility and overall wellbeing. The initiative covered 300 stray dogs across Delhi and was executed in collaboration with Friendicoes SECA, with on-ground support from Bark Out Loud’s teams and volunteers.
Speaking on the initiative, Sonaal Garg, Co-Founder of Salty, said, “Charms for Change came from a simple belief that visibility leads to empathy. Partnering with Bark Out Loud by Vivaldis allowed us to bring together design and on-ground animal care in a way that is thoughtful and responsible. This initiative is not about making dogs look decorative; it is about giving them dignity and recognition. When a dog carries clear, visible markers of care, people pause, respond differently, and often more kindly. We do not see this as a solution to a complex issue, but as a small, collaborative intervention that can influence behaviour and create safer, more compassionate interactions on the streets.”
Kunal Khanna, CEO, Bark Out Loud by Vivaldis, added, “At Bark Out Loud, our work is rooted in animal health and everyday wellbeing. Collaborating with Salty on Charms for Change helped translate care into visible, design-led cues that communities can immediately understand. When healthcare awareness, nourishment, and thoughtful design come together through partnerships like this, it reduces fear and misinformation on the ground. What makes this collaboration meaningful is its simplicity, small, repeatable actions carried out across neighbourhoods that collectively improve safety for both animals and people.”
While Charms for Change does not claim to solve the broader challenges surrounding stray dog welfare, it highlights how small, repeatable interventions, combining design, healthcare awareness, and nourishment support, can contribute to more compassionate urban environments.
