Anchor by Panasonic, a vital member of Panasonic Corporation Eco Solutions company was declared winner in the category of Rooftop Solar Module Company in recognition of its continuing efforts and outstanding contribution towards the development of rooftop solar industry.
The Chairman of SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India) Shri Upendra Tripathi and CMD of IREDA (Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency) Mr. K.S. Popli - Both Central Govt subsidiary companies of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) conferred the awards at the IRSS Indian Rooftop Solar Summit organised by the First View Group & Solar Quarter in New Delhi recently.
The High Efficiency Photovoltaic Module HIT™ is manufactured using advanced technology and is an ideal match for the Indian environmental conditions as it offers more energy production per square meter of area utilized and lowest negative temperature coefficient.
On this occasion, Mr. Krishnan Rajagopalan, Head Solar Business for Panasonic in India says, “India is facing a major challenge as it evolves to be a self-sufficient and efficient nation using non-conventional sources for producing power. The Union Government has significantly expanded its solar plans, targeting US$100 billion of investment and 100 GW of solar capacity by 2022. The need of the hour is to deploy high efficiency modules that offer better response to environmental conditions in the roof top segment (particularly commercial and industrial units). Customers are now opting to pay the extra premium, to have secured and long term cash flows.”
Having over 4 decades of experience in Solar Panels business, Panasonic started its India Solar Business Operations through its 100% wholly owned subsidiary company M/s Anchor Electricals Private Limited, as a supplier of high efficiency Photovoltaic Module HIT™ in April 2014. The company today offers end-to-end solution to its customers right from feasibility study to high quality Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) services and long-term operation and maintenance.
Panasonic has successfully completed supply of 2.9 MW of Photovoltaic Module HIT™ to a large sanitary ware manufacturing company in India (for its roof top project) and now executing ~2 MW roof top project for the same customer on EPC basis. The company has also successfully completed and commissioned 700 kWp of roof top power plant on EPC basis with the photovoltaic modules for a large IT company in South India and is executing an additional ~1 MW of roof top plant for the same customer in western India.
Aligned to the aggressive business plans of the company, Panasonic Eco Solutions, one of the four strategic business segments of the Japanese major also has announced the expansion of its solar business by increasing the energy generation capacity of its High Efficiency Photovoltaic Module HIT™.
Mr. Shigeki Komatsu, General Manager of Solar Business Unit, Japan mentions, “Panasonic will be releasing larger capacityphotovoltaic module HIT™ (294Wp, 325Wp and 330 Wp) for B2B market shortly. These modules will reduce the balance of system costs for clients and make it more compact and also provide higher power density.”
At present, Panasonic has 900 MW production capacity in the manufacturing locations in Japan and Malaysia and it has announced capacity expansion to 1 GW in lieu of its Solar Business expansion in the Indian Sub continent and GCC markets. It is a vertically integrated company right from Research & Development, silicon ingot, wafer, cells, modules and EPC Services. This vertical opens up new opportunities for the company in a key market like India where Solar power will play a major role in the near future.
