Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Institute in association with the Department of Industries and Commerce, District Industries Centre, and the District Small Industries Association is all set to organise a trade fair and a national seminar and also workshop on “Confluence of micro an small enterprises for market development” titled “Udyam Samaagam” at the Town Hall here on September 27 and 28.
Addressing media, K Socrates, Deputy Director, MSME Development Institute, said, ''marketing is a strategic tool for the growth and survival of micro and small enterprises (MSEs). Due to lack of information, improper utilisation of scarce resources and unorganised marketing affected MSEs in retaining the existing markets and exploring new marketing avenues.''
The reason for holding “Udyam Samaagam” is to give wings to MSEs to showcase diversity and capabilities and to bring together innovative and traditional product manufacturers from agro and rural industries and rural artisans on a common platform.
Apart from these, it also aimed at providing an opportunity to women and SCs/STs entrepreneurs to further their progress in the MSE sector. It would transmit suitable process and technology required for local needs to add value to commerce.
The national seminar on September 27 would focus on subjects such as Intellectual Property Rights, the strategic tool for Enterprise Development; Scope for promoting innovative agro based enterprises; and Packaging and designs, while the awareness programme on September 28 would focus on GST for MSME sector and public procurement policy to support MSEs.
The two-day event is being supported by National Small Industries Corporation Ltd., the Khadi and Village Industries Commission and Coir Board, Socrates added.
