Kanyathon 2026, India’s only student-led charity run, is set to bring together thousands of runners, walkers, volunteers, and corporate partners in a collective show of solidarity for girls’ education and empowerment. Conceptualised and executed entirely by students of IFIM Institutions, JAGSoM, and Vijaybhoomi University, the upcoming 15th edition aims to convert participation into meaningful, measurable social impact. Ministry of Sports has endorsed as part of Fit India Movement.

Launched in 2011 with just 400 participants, Kanyathon has grown into a nationwide movement uniting thousands of students, corporates, NGOs, and communities to address gender inequality rooted in poverty and structural disadvantage. The name combines Kanya (girl child) and Marathon, symbolising a long, collective journey toward dignity, opportunity, and equality. The initiative welcomes corporate partnerships and support.

Mrs. Kalpana Padode, Governing board member, Vijaybhoomi University said, “Kanyathon isn’t just a student-led charity run, it is a movement. When students take ownership of social change, they do not just raise funds they raise aspirations. Every step taken in Kanyathon is a step toward ensuring that no girl’s dream is limited by her circumstances. Through nine Kanyathon Shiksha Kendras (KSKs) established in government schools across Karnataka and Maharashtra, the movement has already impacted over 1,000 students through structured programmes in spoken English, computer literacy, and health and hygiene education. The initiative also focuses on infrastructure upgrades, including computer labs, classroom improvements, and sanitation facilities to create safe and enabling learning environments”

This year’s edition will feature 3 km walkathons, 5 km and 10 km timed runs, pro runs, family runs, fitness activities, and e-gaming competitions, to be held simultaneously in Bengaluru, Karjat and for the first time in Jammu. With support from the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir- Shri Atal Dulloo and Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, this new chapter of Kanyathon is sure to impact many more ambitious girls.  Proceeds from registrations and partnerships will directly support structured interventions in education, health, digital literacy, and livelihood development for girls from high-risk communities.

In addition, Kanyathon currently supports the education of 20 daughters of commercial sex workers from Budhwar Peth in Pune and Kamathipura in Mumbai, helping break intergenerational cycles of vulnerability through sustained academic and mentoring support. Several beneficiaries are now pursuing higher education in disciplines such as Social Work, Business Administration, and Psychology, reflecting the long-term impact of the initiative.

The initiative also provides higher education scholarships to meritorious girls from economically weaker sections. In partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Kanyathon supports mid-day meals for students at its centres, strengthening attendance and learning continuity. Menstrual hygiene programmes further support adolescent girls, promoting dignity, health, and school retention.

As preparations for Kanyathon 2026 gain momentum, the organisers are inviting corporate partners to collaborate through CSR funding, sponsorships, and employee engagement initiatives to further scale impact. Corporate contributions will directly support scholarships, digital infrastructure, nutrition assistance, and health programmes for girls from vulnerable backgrounds.
