The total debt of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) during monetary year 2014-15 when the BJP government assumed responsibility, remained at Rs 24,188 crore. To support the spiraling debt, NHAI “is making a move for monetisation of the benefits through Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) and Toll-Operate-Transfer (TOT),” Gadkari said in a composed reaction to a Lok Sabha question.
NHAI is consolidating a specific reason vehicle (SPV) in which a few segments will be moved. In this way, the SPV will move those advantages for the InvIT to be shaped by NHAI, Gadkari said.
