GAIL Inks Agreement for CBG Plant at Haralakunte Village

GAIL signs a tripartite agreement with GBA and BSWML to develop a compressed bio gas plant in Bengaluru, producing 12.6 tons of CBG daily from municipal waste.

GAIL (India) Limited today signed a Tripartite Concession Agreement with the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) for the development of a Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant at the KCDC area, Haralakunte Village, Bengaluru South Taluk, Bengaluru.

The agreement was formalised in the presence of the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri D. K. Shivakumar. As per the terms of the Concession Agreement, GBA will provide 18 acres of land on a permissive use basis, while BSWML will supply 300 tons per day of segregated municipal solid waste (MSW) for processing. The plant is expected to produce 12.6 tons per day of compressed Bio Gas and approximately 22 tonnes per day of Fermented Organic Manure (FOM), thereby contributing to sustainable agriculture and promoting a circular economy.

The Concession Agreement will remain in force for a period of 25 years from the date of commissioning of the project.

This initiative represents a significant step forward in sustainable waste management and green energy production in Bengaluru, aligning with the objectives of the Government of India’s SATAT initiative and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
