Extension of Chennai- Bengaluru Industrial Corridor Approved

National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) in its meeting held on 30th August, 2019 has accorded approval for extension of Chennai - Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) to Kochi and Coimbatore and inclusion of Integrated Manufacturing Clusters (IMCs) identified in the States of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) in its meeting held on 30th August, 2019 has accorded approval for extension of Chennai - Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) to Kochi and Coimbatore and inclusion of Integrated Manufacturing Clusters (IMCs) identified in the States of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.  As per approved financial and institutional structure for Industrial Corridors by Government of India, the responsibility of making land available for the project is with the concerned State Government.

The activities relating to selection of consultant for detailed master planning and preliminary engineering of these IMCs are in progress.  Completion timelines varies from 4-5 years from the date of initiations of project development activities. Since, the project is presently under development stage, completion date of the project cannot be fixed.

This information was given by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
