New Electricity Public Led Lights To Save Electricity Worth Rs 3300 Crore Every Year

There are around 1 crore street light poles in the country, which have been replaced with smart LEDs instead of the old tube lights. These new poles will save electricity worth Rs 3300 crore every year, according to Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL).
The Modi government in 2015 launched a plan to replace smart LEDs on the street lights. There are about 1.34 crore street lights in the country, and progressively the government has changed about 1 crore such lights so far.
These LED lights are spread on 2.7 lakh kilometers of Indian roads and save 6.71 billion kWh of electricity every year. Also, it will prevent the formation of 46 lakh tons of carbon dioxide, leading to fresher air in the atmosphere.
According to the report received by EESL from the local authority, These LED street lights are saving up to 50% electricity as before.
