Rajeev Bora, CEO - Mining Division, Chowgule and Company Private Limited (CCPL)

Chowgule and Company Private Limited (CCPL), a part of the Chowgule Group, has appointed Mr. Rajeev Bora as the CEO of its Mining Division. Rajeev will be responsible for leading the group’s renewed focus on mining and creating a large national footprint for the business. The company had recently placed the winning bid for commercial mining of coal from Sahapur (East) mine in Madhya Pradesh.

Rajeev has over 22 years of experience in the mining industries in India, Zambia, and Armenia. He started his career with Vedanta Resources in 1998. Prior to joining Chowgule and Company, Rajeev served as Vice President of Mining at Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL), where, as part of the company’s senior leadership team, he led the company’s exploration work and centralized mine design function. In an earlier role at HZL, Rajeev headed the company’s largest mining complex around Udaipur.

Commenting on Rajeev’s appointment at Chowgule and Company, Ms. Padma Chowgule, Chairperson and Managing Director, said, “Rajeev is a seasoned expert in the mining industry. His on-field experience, strategic vision and professional approach will be invaluable as we take our mining division into its next phase of growth. With the government bringing in structural reforms in the mining sector and our recent coal block win, Rajeev’s role will be critical in our diversifying into newer commodities and acquisition and development of new assets.

Talking about his new role, Mr. Rajeev Bora said, “I am honored to be a part of the Chowgule Group, who were the early movers in transforming the Indian mining sector. The mining sector is presently on the cusp of some major changes, and it is important for us to relook at our operations and strategy to achieve robust, sustainable growth in the years ahead. I thank the leadership of Chowgule Group for their faith in me, and I look forward to working with our team and stakeholders.”

The group currently has mining operations in Goa and Karnataka, and three sophisticated plants with capacity to produce and export over five million tons of finest iron ore and pellets every year. The Chowgule Group was the first to mechanize mining operations in India, in the year 1952 at Sirigao Mines, Goa.
