Cairn Oil & Gas, a part of Vedanta Group and India’s largest private oil & gas producer, has become a proud partner of the YONEX SUNRISE BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships & World Junior Badminton Championships 2025, being hosted in Guwahati from October 6–19, 2025, by the Badminton Association of India. This premier international event brings the spotlight to India’s Northeast, providing young players from over 40 countries a platform to excel in this global sporting challenge.
For Cairn, the championship is not just about the game but also about investing in youth, promoting grassroots sports, and strengthening community engagement.
Cairn’s association with the championship reflects its long-term commitment to enabling opportunities for the youth, both in Assam and across the country. Through such initiatives, Cairn Oil & Gas reiterates its belief that true progress lies in creating avenues for young people to shine and excel — on the field and beyond.
In a special message, Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta Group, said, “We proudly support the cause for the development of this sport. Guided by our core philosophy of ‘Transforming for Good’, we believe in nurturing the potential of communities and the youth of India, with sports playing a big role in bringing them together. India has already produced several world-class players in badminton, and the nation’s commitment to nurturing the sport at different levels continues to inspire the next generation of champions. My best wishes to all the world players competing in the championship. Aim high, take risk, win big”.
The BWF World Junior Championships is held annually and consists of two competitions: the Mixed Team Championships, followed by the Individual Championships. Spread over 12 days, the event attracts up to 50 teams and nearly 400 players from around the world.
Cairn’s support for sports at the grassroots level:
Cairn has been actively supporting sports and youth development across its areas of operation. The company has helped athletes such as kiteboarding prodigy Nikhamoni Bora from Golaghat, Assam, by enabling her to access professional training. It has also backed 12 para-athletes through its Project Divyang (Sports) initiative, providing grants, kits, and nutrition support. Many of these athletes have delivered commendable performances at both national and international levels.
