The Bihar government has cleared infrastructure projects worth ₹5,474 crore, including the construction of a bridge over the Gandak river in Muzaffarpur at a cost of ₹589 crore.
The high-level 3 lane PSC box cell superstructure bridge will connect Fatehabad (Paru block) with Chanchalia (Saraiya block). The bridge will stretch 2,280 metres in length and 15.55 metres in width, with a 2,200-metre access road to ensure smoother travel. The project will cut the current 49 km route via Rewa Ghat to just 10 km, significantly reducing travel time and fuel use for thousands of commuters.
Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin said the bridge will be a “lifeline” for people in Muzaffarpur and adjoining areas.
“These projects will not only improve connectivity but also play a vital role in Bihar’s comprehensive development. The Gandak bridge, in particular, will be a lifeline for the people of Muzaffarpur and surrounding areas," Shri Nabin said.
Other projects include the revised JP Ganga Path in Patna, a 20.5 km stretch from Digha to Didarganj, with a revised allocation of ₹4,119.06 crore for land acquisition, utility shifting and rehabilitation works.
In addition, ₹765.86 crore has been earmarked for upgradation of State Highway-95 under the Bihar State Highway Project-III (Phase-2), funded by the Asian Development Bank. The work will include construction of bridges and road over bridges.
"These projects are aimed at strengthening the state’s road network and improving connectivity. Together, these projects reaffirm Bihar’s commitment to expanding its road network, modernising infrastructure, and ensuring inclusive growth across the state," Shri Nitin Nabin further commented.
