In a major initiative to strengthen its industrial footprint in Central India, Shri Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML Limited, met the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, in Raipur to discuss BEML’s expanding engagement in the state and explore future collaboration opportunities in infrastructure, defence, and mining sectors.
The discussions highlighted BEML’s strategic vision to support Chhattisgarh’s economic decvelopment by boosting local manufacturing capabilities, creating employment opportunities, and building robust logistics and service infrastructure. The Hon’ble Chief Minister welcomed BEML’s initiatives and assured the state’s full support in facilitating the company’s growth plans.
Earlier, the Chhattisgarh Government has allotted 100-acres of land to BEML for establishing a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit for mining equipment. The upcoming facility will cater to the growing demand for advanced and indigenously developed mining machinery in the mineral-rich belt of central India. This initiative is aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, focused on localized production, skilling, employment generation, and development of a regional vendor ecosystem.
Strengthening its commitment to operational excellence, BEML has also laid the foundation stone for a modern Central Warehousing Centre in Bilaspur. This facility is poised to become a key logistics hub that will significantly improve supply chain responsiveness and service delivery across BEML’s core sectors—Defence, Rail & Metro, and Mining & Construction.
The ground-breaking ceremony was inaugurated by Shri Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML Ltd, in the esteemed presence of Shri Harish Duhan, CMD, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), along with Shri Anil Jerath, Director (Finance), and Shri Sanjay Som, Director (Mining & Construction), BEML Ltd, accompanied by senior officials from both organizations.
The upcoming Bilaspur facility will be fully digitalized, equipped with a bar code-based inventory management system for real-time tracking, accurate material storage, and seamless processing. The Centre has been designed to dispatch critical spare parts within 24 to 48 hours of a customer request—significantly boosting after-sales service and operational efficiency.
Commenting on the developments, Shri Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML, stated: “We are more than happy to explore Chhattisgarh as a promising destination for expanding our business footprint. The state holds immense potential—not only in supporting our growth aspirations but also in enabling us to contribute meaningfully through local employment generation and strengthening of small and ancillary industries. The recently launched Central Warehousing Centre in Bilaspur stands as a testament to our commitment to developing Chhattisgarh as a key hub in our long-term strategy for sustainable operations and customer-centric service delivery.”
BEML’s growing presence in Chhattisgarh is part of its broader national strategy to decentralize operations, promote regional infrastructure, and enhance agility in serving customer requirements.
