BatX Energies, fastest-growing Lithium-ion battery recycling and sustainable energy solutions startup, has announced a strategic partnership with LW3 Pvt. Ltd., a pioneering company specializing in Digital Product Passport (DPP) solutions using blockchain and IoT technologies. The collaboration seeks to transform battery lifecycle management, offering a fully traceable and sustainable solution for energy storage systems (ESS).
The partnership leverages LW3’s DPP to enable comprehensive tracking of battery history, usage, and material provenance from production to end-of-life, aligning with BatX’s mission to promote a circular economy in the energy sector.
“Partnering with LW3 aligns perfectly with our vision of creating a true circular economy for battery materials in India and the world,” said Utkarsh Singh, CEO, BatX Energies. “With digital passports, we’ll enhance transparency in the recycling process, Recycled battery materials supply chain, and refurbished battery banks, allowing us to meet stringent global regulations and further scale our operations. We will work collaboratively to enable traceability for cross-border battery scrap movement, a big challenge and gap in the battery recycling industry and for Non- OECD countries like India. This will help the EV OEM’s and battery manufacturers measure and meet their sustainability goals, simplifying their EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) targets calculation and coordination.”
By integrating LW3’s IoT and blockchain expertise, the partnership aims to set new standards for material accountability, offering a streamlined approach to meeting compliance requirements, especially in markets like Europe. This collaboration introduces blockchain-enabled solutions into BatX’s recycling framework, ensuring secure and transparent reverse logistics for the collection of end-of-life (EOL) batteries.
“We are thrilled to partner with BatX to accelerate the adoption of traceable, sustainable battery recycling,” said Abhijit Pegu, Co-founder and CEO of LW3 Pvt. Ltd. “Our shared focus on sustainability and innovation makes this a perfect match. We believe this partnership will set new standards in battery recycling not only in India but globally.”
This collaboration supports compliance with global digital product passport standards, including the European Union’s CIRPASS initiative. LW3’s solutions will enable BatX to assist its partners across various industries in meeting battery recycling and reuse requirements, ensuring better environmental stewardship on an international scale.
Both companies are committed to advancing a circular economy by maximizing the lifecycle of battery materials through cutting-edge technology. They will also explore joint fundraising initiatives to expand battery recycling technologies, creating new opportunities for investors and stakeholders.
The partnership was further strengthened by both companies’ participation in the India-EU TTC Working Group 2 Matchmaking Event for Battery Recycling Technology, organized by the Principal Scientific Advisor, Govt. of India and the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, European Commission where cross-border collaboration opportunities were explored to foster innovations in battery recycling and circular economy practices in India & the European Union.
