AVPL International, a leading name in India’s drone ecosystem, has established 30 Aero Vision Labs in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to enhance technical education and provide students and faculty with hands-on experience in advanced drone technology. This milestone is part of AVPL’s ongoing efforts under the signed MoU with AICTE, which aims to establish a total of 50 Aero Vision Labs across the country.
With an investment of up to ₹50 lakhs per lab by AVPL International, the initiative promises high-quality training infrastructure providing institutional capacity building, entrepreneurship development, and community engagement. As the remaining 20 labs move toward completion, the Aero Vision Labs initiative stands as a pioneering example of industry-academia-government collaboration to boost India’s drone ecosystem.
The first phase of the project involved shortlisting 47 institutions based on critical parameters, including infrastructure readiness and airspace zoning. As of June 2025, 30 institutions across 13 states and union territories have been equipped with fully operational Aero Vision Labs. The remaining 20 labs are currently under various stages of development, reinforcing the commitment to achieving the target of 50 labs nationwide.
Speaking on the progress, Preet Sandhuu, Founder and Managing Director of AVPL International, said, “The Aero Vision Labs are not just about drones; they are about creating a future-ready India. These labs are designed to foster grassroots innovation, empower students with cutting-edge skills, and build a talent pipeline that can lead the world in drone technology. Our collaboration with AICTE is a testament to the shared vision of bringing meaningful transformation in education and employability, especially in rural and semi-urban regions.”
The labs have been established across Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. States like Gujarat and Karnataka lead with six labs each, reflecting strong regional momentum and a focused push toward Tier-2 and Tier-3 areas. Each lab is set up within the premises of a partnering institution and spans a minimum area of 5,060 sq. ft., equipped with advanced drone technology, including AVPL’s indigenous Viraj agriculture drone, flight simulators, telemetry systems, and drone diagnostics tools.
Students are being offered government-sponsored as well as paid training programs such as Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC), Kisan Drone Operator (KDO), and Drone Service Technician, among others. In addition, faculty members at each institution undergo a specialized Training of Trainers (ToT) program, ensuring continuous delivery of skill-based learning aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Opportunities for live projects, internships, and entrepreneurial incubation further enrich the learning ecosystem within these labs.
