Ambuja Cements SEDI Enables Rural Youth Through Skill Development

Ambuja Cements, the 9th largest building materials solutions provider globally and part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, is empowering youth in rural India through its Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institutes (SEDI), helping them gain employable skills and achieve financial self-reliance. The journey of Anukriti Tandon from Bhatapara, Baloda Bazar, Chhattisgarh, is a powerful testament to this impact.

Coming from a modest background, Anukriti faced health and financial challenges that limited her education and opportunities. Her mother managed a small general store, which barely met the family’s daily needs. Determined to improve their situation, Anukriti enrolled in the Retail Sales Associate course at SEDI Bhatapara in 2024 after learning about it through a community mobilization drive.

During the three-month training, she gained practical knowledge of customer service, sales, workplace behaviour, and IT tools, along with soft skills that built her confidence and communication abilities. Upon completing the course, Anukriti secured employment at Foxconn, Bangalore, as an Assembly Operator. Her achievement brought financial stability to her family and inspired others in her community—including her younger brother, who has since enrolled in the next training batch at SEDI is now placed at Westside, Raipur. Today she is placed at Snitch Store, Bangalore with a current salary of Rs. 16,000 + incentives and other perks.
