Ambuja Cements Initiates CSR Health Centers in Punjab

Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani portfolio, has launched Health & Nutrition Information Centres (HNICs) in two villages of Punjab through CSR efforts. These centres serve as key hubs, offering services that address a wide array of health concerns including non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, child health, nutrition, and adolescent wellness.

As an integral part of the Ambuja’s CSR initiative, these HNICs serve as community hubs for health-related education, support and engagement. These centres bring together community members, health workers, educators, and volunteers for educational sessions, counselling, and outreach activities. Equipped with resources, materials, health libraries, and sports equipment, HNICs promote healthy lifestyles through activities, awareness campaigns, and regular follow-up by healthcare professionals.

HNICs benefit a diverse range of individuals within the community especially women, empowering them to take control of their health. Veerpal Kaur, 44, finds the centre a safe and supportive space for women to connect and discuss health concerns. She said, “It’s so easy and comfortable for women like me to come to the centre. It is right in our village, and the atmosphere is welcoming. It’s also easy to talk to other women here and share our health concerns.”

Kirandeep Kaur, 34, credits the centre for motivating her to adopt healthier habits. She shared, “Their recommendations are motivating. I’ve started eating more vegetables and even started a kitchen garden at home. I also make sure to walk for at least 30 minutes every day now.” The centre creates a supportive environment for individuals to access information, engage in healthy activities, and improve their overall well-being.

Ambuja Cements is not just strengthening communities by providing essential health services, education, and empowerment resources, through these Health & Nutrition Information Centres in rural Punjab, but also empowering individuals at the grassroots level towards a healthier tomorrow.
