Two B. Tech students of SVKM’s NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering (MPSTME) have secured coveted jobs with e-commerce giant Amazon with an annual pay package of Rs. 1.22 crore each.

The students, Yohaan Vakil and Tanuj Chaniyari, both pursuing a B. Tech Computer Engineering program from MPSTME, will join Amazon’s Dublin office in Ireland as Graduate Software Development Engineers, one of the highly sought-after positions with the world’s biggest e-commerce player.

Amazon, which is ranked second among the Fortune 500 companies and is also on the Forbes list of top five best employers globally, has selected the students for the coveted job that involves designing and building innovative technologies in a large, distributed computing environment and helping lead fundamental changes in the industry.

The students have attributed their success to the guidance and counselling by their faculty members at MPSTME, who have provided them with a platform to showcase their innovative ideas. Yohaan and Tanuj have also focused on developing soft skills to secure the job.

Dr. Alka Mahajan, Dean, MPSTME, said, “We are immensely proud of Yohaan and Tanuj for their accomplishments. MPSTME’s primary objective is to build a generation of holistically trained engineers possessing sound technical expertise that will create technology that serves the changing needs of the present world. Yohaan and Tanuj are shining examples of this vision and I am confident that they will carry on the learnings from the institute to bring about a revolutionary change in the technology industry”.

Speaking on the achievement, Yohaan Vakil said, “My educational journey with MPSTME has been the most rewarding experience of my life. The teaching pattern is not only academically driven but a lot of emphasis is also placed on nurturing soft skills. The school has a well-planned program structure which makes it easy for students to follow and comprehend. MPSTME with its state-of-the-art infrastructure offers industry-related experience which is rare to find in other academic institutions”.

Echoing the sentiments, Tanuj Chaniyari said, “I am thankful to my school for making me eligible for this opportunity. According to my job interview experience, employers look for a deep and intuitive understanding of the core subjects and problem-solving skills in candidates. MPSTME has equipped me with technical knowledge and innovative management practices which are in line with the current industry requirements”.

Yohaan and Tanuj say that consistent studying, following the curriculum diligently, grabbing all learning opportunities, and practising soft skills are the key to nailing this job.
