The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to give major relief to all industrial and commercial institutions during the ongoing lockdown, by waiving off interest on the amount payable by these establishments under all heads from March 22 to June 30.
According to a media report, Uttar Pradesh Minister for Industrial Development Satish Mahana said that the lockdown implemented for the prevention of coronavirus epidemic had resulted in the temporary closure of industrial, commercial and institutional units located all over the country and the state.
"The government has taken the decision to allow exemptions in interest on dues of industrial and commercial institutions of the state for three months," he told a leading news agency in an interview.
The minister pinned hope that the said exemption would provide some relief to the industries and enterprises of the state during the current crisis and they would be able to resume operations of their units by following the guidelines issued by the Central and state governments.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development, Alok Kumar, has issued a circular to Noida, Greater Noida, Yamuna Expressway, UP State Industrial Development (UPSIDA), Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority, Satharia Industrial Development Authority and the Integrated Industrial Township Greater Noida Ltd. (IITGNL) on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) to exempt interest on late payment of all types of dues that are to be paid by the industrial, commercial and institutional units during the period from March 22 to June.
This exemption will be available to the units that pay their dues by June 30.
According to the directives, in order to avail the exemption, the concerned entity has to make a request to the Industrial Development Authority, either online or through email.
The payment of lease rent and water charges for the period up to June 30, 2020 have been already postponed by the three authorities of the National Capital Region, namely, Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority.
UP Govt. Open To Work with Other State Governments to Send Labours & Workers
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said his government would help send workers from other states stuck in Uttar Pradesh if the governments of those states want them back.
The Chief Minister’s Media Adviser Mrityunjay Kumar said, “The Chief Minister has said that people of other states, who are stuck here because of the lockdown, if their home states want to call them back then the state government will give permission, and assist with sending such people back.”
Adityanath on Wednesday had reiterated there should not be any violation of lockdown rules, and told officials that the restrictions should be strictly followed in districts with 10 or more cases of coronavirus.
At a press conference, Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Awasthi said 6,968 industrial units in the state were operating, engaging about 1.25 lakh workers.
Awasthi said orders had been given to start industrial units in non-affected areas, and the functioning of brick-kilns was also reviewed. There are about 12,000 brick kilns operating at the moment, employing about 12 to 15 lakh workers, he added.
The government has said that products of MSME industries should be allowed in places with no hotspots. Officials have also been asked to ensure the free movement of raw materials and finished products for industries.
