Times Square Center and Sharaf DG Present: HIGH SCORE CON

Times Square Center, the city’s hub for supporting local businesses, is partnering with Sharaf DG and Uprizing Events Management, to host the second annual High Score Con. The free-to-attend pop culture convention opened in the UAE in 2020 at Times Square Center and was created to celebrate Emirati culture in an extraordinary manner, hosting a variety of exciting activations. This year, the event will be held on the 14th, 15th, and 16th October for pop culture enthusiasts across the UAE to attend and participate in, as well as interact with and meet over 50 local artists and creators from the region.

High Score Con will host a range of gaming activations and tournaments, including e-sports tournaments hosted within the Sharaf DG Gaming Area, board game tournaments and a cosplay competition where attendees can dress up as their favourite pop culture characters while standing the chance to win exciting prizes. Times Square Center is giving away prizes worth AED 30,000 across the various competition categories such as E-Sports, Cosplay and Board Games and that’s not all. Times Square is also giving away 3 brand new PlayStation 5s through its Instagram page (@timessquaredxb) and radio partners. Alongside the tournaments and competitions, High Score Con will be brimming with other happenings such as panel talks, live music shows and a pop culture market with over 50 vendors.

Back to Games will also organize the largest tabletop gaming tournaments for Warhammer 40K, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon and Magic: the Gathering to be held in Dubai thus far; with over 3,000 AED in prizes to be won. Furthermore, there will be non-stop fast paced tabletop gaming all around the mall, exclusively during the High Score Con weekend.

For the first time ever, the region’s largest comic and memorabilia shop, Speedy Comics ME, will have a selection of extremely rare and valuable items on display at High Score Con, straight from the SPEEDY COMICS VAULT MUSEUM. The Speedy Comics Vault Museum contains historic comic book issues published close to 100 years ago, first appearances of iconic characters famous all over the world as well as signed memorabilia from iconic actors and creators, who have influenced pop culture and generations of adoring fans.

Otaku Me - the biggest model hobby shop in the UAE and GCC will also officially open at Times Square Center and treat customers to amazing discounts and giveaways!

Last year’s High Score Con saw an increased footfall in Times Square Center of an impressive 81%, a testament to the thriving and ever-growing gaming community in UAE. In an initiative to support Emirati-led ventures, Times Square Center teamed up with Uprizing Events Management, a start-up events company specialising in events related to pop culture, that is owned and operated by Abdulla Allouz, an Emirati entrepreneur. And, with over 100 Cosplayers visiting this event it is sure to be one to remember.
