SMEs from 25 Countries gets training from CII and NIESBUD

A 52 member international delegation from a total of 25 countries visited CII-Avantha Centre for Competitiveness for SMEs to learn about its various activities in the realm of SME competitiveness, leadership and entrepreneurship.

The delegation was divided in two focus areas which were Innovative Leadership for Organization Growth & Excellence (ILOGE) and Entrepreneurship for Small Business Trainers/Promoters (ESB-TP), led by NIESBUD. They are engaged in the area of developing leaders and inculcating entrepreneurial culture in the society.  The main objective of the programme was to develop them as professional innovative leaders.

Enumerating about the various services of CII-AVANTHA Centre, R. Narayanan, Head, CII-AVANTHA Centre for Competitiveness for SMEs said, “the Centre hand-holds about 200 companies each year via Cluster approach at Pan India level for enhancing the internal competitiveness of companies.” He also said that CII’s unique Cluster approach has helped industries save more than 200 crores through about 1 lakh improvement proposals at the plant level. Since its inception the Centre along with its strategic partners has formed about 245 Clusters impacting approximately 3000 SMEs.

Impact of various programmes conducted by CII-Avantha Centre for Competitiveness for SMEs was also detailed during the session. Some of benefits are - Joint ventures /Technical collaborations /MoUs, Import worth 4.45 Mn Euro and exports worth 4.85 Mn Euro have been facilitated through Indo-German Manager training programmein the last five years. As much as 100 and 300 % increase in turnover recorded by participant companiesRs. 7000 Lakh annual savings reported from about 90 individual companies through Energy Management Services in last 5 years. Served more than 1000 SME units through Energy Audit & Technology up-gradation Services. In the realm of Corrosion Services through 8 Audits savings worth 400 lakh have been detailed. Nearly 720 organisation 1700 Managers benefitted from 24 Corrosion related training programmes.

Delegates from Afghanistan, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Macedonia, Myanmar, Poland, Russia, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Mauritius, Nigeria, South Sudan, Tanzania, Niger, Malawi, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe attended the programme.
