The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is set to introduce a new council for entrepreneurship and skill upgradation across verticals in marketing, administration, stores etc.
The Entrepreneurship, Management Services and Training Sector Skill Council will help in enhancing skills related to human resources, purchase, stores, marketing and administration across sectors. It is being jointly promoted by All India Management Association (AIMA), National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development and Indian Society for Training and Development.
While emphasizing the need of such forum, Sunil Abrol, adviser AIMA stated, “There is a need for students and unemployed youth to acquire generic skills that will make them ready for a job. Generic skills like communication, team working, assertiveness, lateral thinking, inter personal skills, emotional intelligence, time management and problem solving are proposed to be covered as part of this.”
NSDC managing director, Dilip Chenoy said the council will cover key skill sets in the management, employability, entrepreneurship and training space. It will provide skills for individuals like trainers, assessors, consultants and entrepreneurs.
According to the report, the council has proposed to certify over 4.75 lakh trainees over 10 years. It will set standards through diploma and degree courses.
The sector also plans to run short duration courses in sectors such as hospitality, mining, refineries, ports, commercial and industrial establishment.
