Within almost 24 hours of Urjit Patel’s resignation, Shaktikanta Das appointed as new RBI governor. Yesterday, Urjit Patel resigned from the post of of RBI chief citing “personal reasons”.
Shaktikanta Das played an important role in the 2016’s Demonetization process and he had became the face of Finance Ministry.
On Monday, Patel had stepped down after a fractious faceoff with the government, underlining the deepening trust deficit between the RBI and the central government.
