Jeep made their official entry into the Indian market back in 2017 with Compass SUV. The SUV became popular among customers in a very short span of time and is now a common sight on our roads. Ever since the launch, Jeep has not made any major exterior changes to the Compass save for feature additions, and the SUV remains more or less the same as before in terms of design. Competition has caught up and is now offering much more updated and advanced vehicles in the segment. Jeep India has been working on certain vehicles which includes an updated or facelifted version of Compass SUV.
The spy pics of facelifted Jeep Compass under heavy camouflage had recently surfaced online and speaking to media, Dr. Partha Datta, President, and Managing Director, FCA India said that the facelifted version of the Compass will be hitting the market next year. He also revealed that Jeep has other plans for Indian market including a 7-seater or 3-row SUV which will be launched in the market. The seven-seater SUV is currently codenamed as Low D 3-row and is likely to be known as ‘Grand Compass’.
It will be based on the facelifted Jeep Compass and is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2021. The sub-4 meter compact SUV space is a very competitive segment and is currently ruled by cars like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue. Jeep is also looking at the possibility of launching a sub-4 meter compact SUV in the segment to compete with other SUVs in the segment.
Apart from these three vehicles Dr. Partha Datta also mentions that they will be bringing to iconic models from Jeep to India. He did not mention anything about the specific model that they plan to bring here.
