Jammu MSMEs urges for Decontrolling of Prices of Processed/Pasteurized Milk products
The Jammu entrepreneurs met the senior officials from Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) department taking up the pending issues of Flour Mills and Milk Processing Plants in the state.
A delegation of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) led by BBIA President Lalit Mahajan met Saurabh Bhagat, Commissioner/Secretary, CAPD Department.
“The matter related to the pending issues of Flour Mills and Milk Processing Plants was discussed in detail,” said Mahajan.
The industrialists from Bari Brahmana and Kashmir deliberated on various issues related to the CAPD Department which includes – decontrolling the prices of Processed/Pasteurized Milk as the same was not covered under the Essential Commodities Act of Government of India.
They also discussed the issues related to the flour mills working in the Jammu Region which includes – the pending payments of flour mill owners for the supply of empty bags in 2009 and the grinding charges for the relief material since 2014, to increase the rates of grinding charges, equal distribution of wheat for grinding on the basis of capacity of the units.
Bhagat assured the delegation to resolve the issues on priority basis and directed the concerned officials present in the meeting to take immediate steps in this regard.
“The Commissioner fully agreed to our view point and directed the Director Finance and Law Officer in his Department to examine the issue in detail and assured us that relief shall be provided to the Milk Processing Plants in case of the item exempted under the Essential Commodity Act,” Mahajan said.
“In respect of flour mills issue, we have raised our concern about the fate of the Mills after the implementation of National Food Security Act under which the Wheat shall be supplied instead of wheat flour. The commissioner assured us that the grinding job for wheat grinding for above poverty lines shall be given to the Flour Mills for their regular working,” Mahajan said.
