India's Mining Industry Beckons Global Investors: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy at Future Minerals Forum 2025

Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, made a compelling case for global investment in India's vast mining sector during the Ministerial Round Table at the Future Minerals Forum 2025. Hosted by Saudi Arabia, the forum convened at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre in Riyadh on January 14, 2025. The discussions focused on developing supply chains for critical minerals, fostering value creation, and addressing other key aspects of the global minerals industry.

During his address, Shri Reddy underscored India's commitment to securing critical minerals essential for the country's ambitious renewable energy targets. Highlighting India's rich natural resources, he invited the global investor community to leverage the immense potential for value addition across the mining sector's supply chain. "Value addition throughout the supply chain is fundamental to enhancing prosperity for the people," he remarked.

Bilateral Engagements on the Sidelines

On the sidelines of the forum, Shri Reddy engaged in bilateral discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef. The talks centered on strengthening trade and investment ties between the two nations.

Shri Reddy also held separate meetings with ministers from Brazil, Italy, and Morocco, emphasizing the importance of economic and technical cooperation, particularly in the minerals sector. His outreach aimed at fostering stronger international partnerships and exploring collaborative opportunities.

India Pavilion Showcases Mining Capabilities

At the forum’s inaugural event, Shri Reddy toured the India Pavilion, which was organized by the Ministry of Mines in collaboration with key stakeholders, including Coal India, Geological Survey of India (GSI), NMDC, NALCO, and MECL. The pavilion showcased India's advancements and opportunities in the mining and minerals industry, further attracting global interest.

Engagement with Indian Diaspora

In addition to the official events, Shri Reddy interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in Riyadh. He appreciated their contributions to fostering strong ties between India and Saudi Arabia and encouraged them to be ambassadors for India’s growing economic and industrial sectors.

Driving Global Cooperation in the Minerals Sector

Shri Reddy’s participation at the Future Minerals Forum underscores India’s strategic focus on expanding its footprint in the global mining industry. By inviting international investments and fostering bilateral ties, India aims to not only meet its domestic energy needs but also emerge as a global leader in the sustainable and value-driven mining sector.
