Future's Retail Business to Reach Rs 40,000 Cr in 2018-19: Kishore Biyani

After launching Golden Harvest Sona Masoori Rice into the South Indian market, Mr Kishore Biyani said current retail business is Rs 30,000 crore and is expecting to reach to Rs 40,000 crore during the next year (2018-19).

Future Consumer Retail Business is expected to reach Rs 40,000 crore during 2018-19, Future Group's CEO Kishore Biyani said.

After launching Golden Harvest Sona Masoori Rice into the South Indian market, Mr Kishore said that the company current retail business was Rs 30,000 crore and is expecting to reach to Rs 40,000 crore during the next year (2018-19).

Hyderabad retail business is also expected to reach Rs 4000 crore of the total company business (10 per cent) during 2018-19 from the current business of Rs 2,500 crore, he said.

Of the Rs 4,500 crore, around Rs 1,500 crore will come from the food segment alone. Hyderabad will account for 10 per cent of the nation’s business for the group.

Big Bazaar is the largest business contributor to the company and its contribution is around Rs 25,000 crore. At present, the company has 265 Big Bazaar stores.

The group roped in Annapurna Studios to launch the TV commercial for the rice brand being introduced in the south. Rana Daggubati representing Suresh Productions that made the commercial said Telangana and AP are dominant rice consuming states and the brand can offer the quality that consumers are seeking.

Future is launching another rice brand to cater to the rest of India market.

Sharing the importance of Hyderabad as a market for the group, Biyani added, the Central retail business has been growing in the city, with Punjagutta Central expecting to contribute Rs 500 revenues by next year, making it the largest Central in terms of revenues across India.
