Food Sector in India to Attract Investments of $10 Billion and Generate 1 Million Jobs

Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur said that with World Food India, India is poised to attract an investment target of roughly $10 billion in food processing sector, which will generate 1 million jobs in the next three years.

Union minister, Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal , Ministry of food processing industries, addressed the curtain raiser event of World Food India 2017 which is scheduled to be held from 3-5 November,2017.

Mrs. Kaur said that with World Food India, India is poised to attract an investment target of roughly $10 billion in food processing sector, which will generate 1 million jobs in the next three years.

She further said farmers are doing great job of ensuring food  safety but  the weather is wreaking havoc on them and  food shortage in India can have repercussions on whole world.

Mrs Kaur also applauded Government on its policies of 100 percent  FDI  in multi brand food retail , introduction of GST  and rolling out Pradhan Mantra Kisan Sampada Yojana to ensure infrastructure creation for seamless transfer of food from production to consumption.

She added that food and clean water shortage can cause major unrest across the globe and requested everyone to join the public pledge to end hunger across the globe.
