In order to ensure favorable business environment, the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) has urged for the abolition of trade license being imposed on the industry, even after government announced to do away with it in the industrial policy 2014-19.

“Though we are not traders, Trade License is imposed on industry.  Government has announced the abolition of Trade License under new Industrial Policy 2014-19,” it said in a press release.

Even the Chief Minister declared about the same in the State Legislative Council and also promised in an open house at Kassia that he will abolish Trade License, the statement added.

The industry body called for immediate steps by the government to avoid harassment by local bodies.

With the view to improve ease of doing business in the state, KASSIA urged that inspector raj should be ended while Single Window Clearance should be implemented efficiently.

Further, raising concerns over the lands given to small industries on lease cum sale basis, the industrialists demanded that, “Micro and small industries should be given land up to 2 acres under 10 years lease-cum-sale basis from KSSIDC/ KIADB.”

KSSIDC should form number of industrial estates forming small plots of 3000 and 5000 sq ft all over Karnataka, as 90 per cent of industries are in housing localities and are not able to expand their business and create more employment, it suggested.

KASSIA also requested the government for uninterrupted 24 hours quality power supply to the industries.

Most of the rural areas are getting power only for 12-16 hours, which is terribly affecting industrial production and economy of the country, it said.
