RAIPUR: Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) team led by Assistant Commissioner, FDA, Dr Ashwani Dewangan seized 60,000 units of different Amul products from Rawabhata situated C&F Agency. The C&F is owned by Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation.

Dr Dewangan said that the seized products include packets of Amul Pure Ghee (48-ml, 200-ml), 500-ml and 1-litre. The estimated cost of the seized product was said to be about Rs 84 lakh. He said that the FDA team comprising of officers Brijendra Bharti, Roshni Rajput and Sadhna Chandrakar led by Dr Dewangan carried out action in compliance with a report of the Food Testing Laboratory, Raipur.

“Recently, we had collected samples of Pure Ghee manufactured by Amul from WalMart shop in Raipur and subsequently sent it to the laboratory. Laboratory reports reads that no manufactures have rights to claim that their products are pure on the package/pouches available for sale in the market. It is the violation of provisions in the Food Safety and Standard Act (FSSA),” said Dr Dewangan. Complying with the report, the FDA team seized 60,000 units of Pure Ghee packets of Amul, said Dr Dewangan, adding, the case has been moved to the court of additional district magistrate for further course of action.
