Last couple of years have shown us a great success story of how Indian small businesses (MSMEs) and Micro-sized Enterprises, in particular, have done business with government agencies in a smart and seamless way. We are talking about Government-e-Marketplace (GeM) which is created its mark by eliminating human interface in vendor registration, order placement and payment processing. The introduction of GeM has completely transformed the way of doing business with Government agencies. Being an open platform, GeM offers no entry barriers to bonafide suppliers who wish to do business with the Government.
So, this is a brief outline of GeM, to discuss the roadmap ahead and much more, we are excited to bring this episode of SMEStreet Podcast featuring Mr. Prashant Kumar Singh, CEO of GeM.
Mr. Prashant Kumar Singh is a seasoned Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1993 batch and he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi and a gold medal in his Master's Degree in Public Policy & Sustainable Development from TERI University, New Delhi.
In the podcast with Faiz Askari, Founder & Chief Editor of SMEStreet, Mr Singh highlighted GeM's top priorities for 2021 and also informed about GeM's further engagement with the existing onboarded sellers on the platform. Mr. Singh also gave a hint on how GeM can explore global expansion as the mammoth outreach and scale of GeM has become a great global benchmark.
