Over 150 MSMEs from clusters all over Uttar Pradesh assembled at Sharda University for Industrial Mahakumbh - a one of the first of its kind collaboration between the University and Indian Industries Association (IIA) to promote ideas exchange, nurture entrepreneurial skills and develop the University as a startup hub. Over 200 students participated in the day long interactive sessions and presented over 20 startup ideas and projects. Industrial Mahakumbh was an initiative of the School of Engineering & Technology, Sharda University aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills and competencies among the students. UGC recognized Sharda University is the largest educational group in Uttar Pradesh having 20,000+ students from 80+ countries and a 1200+ qualified faculty.
IIA is an apex representative body of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) with a strong membership base of about 7862 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The 252nd IIA CEC Conclave of Indian Industries Association (IIA) also took place on the eve of Industrial Mahakumbh. Shri. B. N. Singh, District Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar (UP), Mr. P K Gupta, Chancellor, Sharda University, Mr. Y K Gupta, Pro Chancellor, Sharda University, Shri Tejpal Singh Nagar, MLA, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Asst. Director, DCMSME, Mr. Sunil Vaish, National President IIA, Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, Secretary, Indian Industries Association (Greater Noida), Mr. SP Sharma, Chairman, Indian Industries Association (Greater Noida, Prof (Dr.) Parma Nand, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, Sharda University, Mr. DLN Shastri, Director-Corporate Affairs, Sharda were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. P K Gupta, Chancellor, Sharda University, “Fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship is one of our key focus areas. With our diverse student mix from across the world, we want to create a startup hub in our University encouraging ideas exchange. It is our endeavor to help students pursue their entrepreneurial dream, guide them, incubate them and help arrange for seed capital in our effort to promote new ideas and build new industries. We are hoping that this new consortium will bring more power to the start-up momentum in our country and globally.”
Shri B.N. Singh , I.A.S, District Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar (UP) talked about ensuring transparent delivery of government schemes for the welfare of the people extended his support and encouragement to the youth for innovation driven startups. He also emphasized that the satisfaction of the public and the government should be the parameter of the work done by the administration.

Mr. A D Pandey, Secretary, IIA said, “We hope that initiatives like this will help bridge the gap between industry expectations and student knowledge to improve employability of students and also foster innovative entrepreneurial ideas. We plan to impart a six month training for students across different industries to work on live projects. This will help in empowering the 80% majority of students who need more mentoring and guidance to have a successful career.”
Prof (Dr.) Parma Nand, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, Sharda University said, “ We hope platforms like Industrial Mahakumbh will provide students an opportunity to easily interact with entrepreneurs from the industry and gain from their diversity of skills, knowledge and research experience.”
The students engaged with the company (MSME) owners from all the districts in Uttar Pradesh. The students presented more than 20 projects which were further assessed by the owners and founders of their respective MSME’s. This provided the students with immense exposure and served as the link between entrepreneurial enthusiasts and industry experts in the concerned field so that the current students can learn from their experiences, knowledge and expertise.
At the 252nd IIA CEC Conclave students interacted with industry experts who further conducted hiring, speaker sessions and provided industry interface by incubating and providing end to end capital to the live project presented by the participants.
