NEW DELHI: Mr Arun Jaitley, Union Minister of Finance chaired the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Finance Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi.
The meeting was attended by the seven Finance Ministers from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka apart from officials from these countries and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Myanmar has joined the SASEC programme as its seventh member.
After its launch, the member countries will deliver Joint Ministerial statement.
The member countries discussed and exchanged ideas and strive to foster better cooperation in the sub-region for an inclusive and better economic growth. Myanmar has joined the SASEC programme as its seventh member and was officially welcomed by FM Mr Jaitley during the event.
Mr Shaktikanta Das, Secretary Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance of India, delivered the welcome address at the event. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is supporting SASEC in this endeavor. The Vice President of ADB was also present on this occasion.
