The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in its mission to empower India's youth, launched its first state-of-the-art Skill India Centre (SICs) in Nandurbar, Maharashtra. The SIC in Nandurbar will be the first of its kind skill development centre located in a rural and remote location, specifically designed to address the aspirations of the tribal population.

This strategic expansion aligns with the government’s vision to empower Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat 2047, focusing on the development of a skilled workforce that meets the demands of a rapidly evolving economy.

This centre will offer cutting-edge training facilities in agriculture and allied activities, including food and raw material processing and agroforestry. In addition to these programs, a diverse range of courses aligned with the demands of the 21st century will be available to the local communities, encompassing IT/ITeS, digital skills, and financial literacy.

The inauguration of the SIC in Nandurbar was officiated by Shri Durga Das Uikey, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India said, “It is a matter of great pleasure that the first SIC to be ever launched in a tribal area, is at Nandurbar. The community can be stable and independent in the society when they process their produce and market it in the right places. If they inculcate this skill, nothing can stop them from growing and developing. 90% of our community lives in the green stretches of this country and most of these produces come from these green belts.”

“Today’s launch is a huge step in supporting and helping the tribal community for growth and also aligns with the PM Modi’s vision of making India the Skill Capital of the World. It is very important for every human being to be skilled, to be able to become independent and self-reliant and this Skill Centre can help the people of this community to learn and excel in the field of their choice”, he said.

Distinguished guest, Shri Rajesh Dada Padvi, Hon’ble MLA (Shahada Constituency), also attended the event.

The SIC aims to bolster skill development initiatives in semi-urban, rural and tribal areas, ensuring that the youth are equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in various industries. It will play a pivotal role in designing curriculum along with industry experts which will be aligned with the changing industry needs, promote standardization, and create employment opportunities that meet the demand for skilled talent across industries.

The establishment of this centre stands as a remarkable opportunity for the nation’s youth who aim to leverage modern technologies, gain technology-driven learning experiences and explore potential career avenues with renowned organizations.

The promising, exuberant, and determined youth of Nandurbar have immense potential which will be leveraged through skill development and vocational training initiatives focusing on enhancing their placement and employability prospects in the domestic and international markets.

The implementation of these features will revolutionize the skilling landscape in India, offering enhanced accessibility, personalized learning experiences, and improved career guidance. It will enable learners to acquire relevant skills, stay updated with industry trends, and contribute to India's workforce development effectively.
