More than 22 Lakh MSMEs Registered Between 2018-2019

Nitin Gadkari informed Rajya Sabha that his ministry facilitates access to finance for Micro and Small Enterprises through its schemes/programmes namely Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises and Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme. The minister also mentioned that Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has submitted its Report to the RBI wherein it has been recommended that the limit for collateral-free lending should be increased to Rs.20 lakh for MSMEs and Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

22.83 lakh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) was registered on Udyog Aadhaar Portal in the country during March, 2018 to March 2019.

The Ministry of MSME facilitates access to finance for Micro and Small Enterprises through its schemes/programmes namely Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises and Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme.

This information was given by Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.

The credit flow to MSME sector by all Scheduled Commercial Banks during the last 3 years is given below:

The Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) was launched by the Government of India to make available collateral-free credit to the micro and small enterprise sector. The number and amount of Guarantees approved under the CGTMSE during the last 2 years is given below:

This has also helped in better credit flow to the micro and small enterprises.

However, responding to another question, Mr. Gadkari also informed the house that a committee is constituted by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has submitted its Report to the RBI wherein it has been recommended that the limit for collateral-free lending should be increased to Rs.20 lakh for MSMEs and Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The Committee has also recommended revision of loan limit sanctioned under MUDRA to Rs.20 lakh from Rs.10 lakh.
