Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu said that aircraft and aviation equipment manufacturing under the Make in India programme and safety and security in the aviation sector would be one of his top priorities along with creating world-class passenger and cargo hubs in India.
Speaking in meeting of airline industry stakeholders, Prabhu also stated that air passengers must have a delightful travel experience and private sector must be responsive to customer requirements.
The meeting was attended by CMDs of different airlines, airport directors and others who are involved in airport operations, on wide-ranging issues like passenger service, security, public-private partnership, infrastructre, air connectivity etc.
Rajiv Nayan Choubey, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and senior officers from the Ministry were also present in the meeting.
Prabhu informed that such meetings would be conducted at regular intervals to ensure that the growth in aviation sector industry is as per world standards.
He also stated that PPP should mean private partnership not only with the Government but with the public at large. He also stressed on the need for a demand survey of the air-traffic potential from various cities that needs to be made.
The issues discussed in the meeting included transforming India as an air cargo hub and working towards e-national air cargo community system and e-freight cargo.
